I'm so exhausted...but I best be perkin' up quick, CUZ TONIGHT IS THE MIDNIGHT SHOWING OF HARRY POTTER!!!

I'd probably be in bed by 6:30 if it weren't for these exciting plans I made ages ago. I'm meeting the girls (Christina, Stevee, Dawn, friend-not-sister Krista, Tarah, and Nicole) for dinner, and then it's off to the movie theater by 9:00 to wait it out!

Err...yes, we are dressing up. Well, a few of us are. I was going to back out, but Krista was practically in tears fearing that she'd be the lone weirdo of the group (she's wearing a pillowcase and a bald cap and strange ears and going as a house elf), so I promised I'd put something together. I think I'm going to be Professor McGonagall.

I don't even want to KNOW how long I'm going to sleep when I finally come rolling in at 2:00 a.m. OMG that's so late for me!!

Awwww, FUN! My friend wanted to go, but I am not so great with midnight showings anymore now that I work mornings. I used to go allll the time in college. Also, I know Ben really wants to see HP7, but he hates midnight movies, so I'm going to wait and see it with him. Regardless, that sounds fun - take photos!!

Have fun!! It's so exciting that you're dressing up!

Yay! I am so excited for both of us! I just wish we could see it together! lol

I'm not dressing up, but a couple of friends that I'm going with may be. I've dressed up before, though!

Do you have to work tomorrow? I do, so I'll probably not be getting much sleep - I always find it hard to fall asleep after coming home from a midnight HP premiere because I'm still on a Harry Potter high. lol I've got to be at work at 7:30 a.m. Ugh.

I DON'T have to work, thank the good Lord! I will probably just be rolling out of bed when Bam gets home from work, knowing me!

Man, wouldn't it be great if we could see the movie together?! What have you dressed up as in the past? This is actually my first time seeing an HP movie in the theater...I'm hoping there will be other weirdos dressed up so we're not the only ones! ;)

Well, that's good that you don't have to work! The worst thing for me is that tomorrow night, D's work is going out for a movie night and I really want to come to that, too (it's not to see HP, but another movie). So I won't get home until tomorrow late night!

I've dressed up as a student before (not anyone in particular) and also wore my brother's invisibility cloak to an event. At one of the book releases, my best friend (in red) dressed up as a Quaffle. :-) Cool thing: when my brother was teaching fifth grade, on the first day of school, he would make his kids put on the Sorting Hat that would then sort them into their table assignments. One of his room mother's made him a kick-ass hat, with all the patches and everything. Before school, he would make a recording of him saying the kids' names, then announcing what group they were in (he used the four HP groups, but made sure to tell them that they are all equal!). Then he'd play the recording in class as each kid put on the hat, so it sounded like the hat was talking! It was pretty neat.

OMG YOUR BROTHER IS AWESOME! I had a student bring in an "actual" sorting hat before (i.e., one trademarked by JK Rowling and which costed a million dollars, I'm sure), and it was sooo cute. I LOVE your brother's ideas! Also, I want to see his cloak! What does it look like??

Too bad the fifth-graders nowadays are more into Twilight and stuff that's wayyyy too adult for them, rather than Harry Potter. (I'm not arguing that certain HP scenes/books are actually more adult appropriate than child appropriate...that's definitely the case! But the overall IDEA is WAY more child appropriate than Twilight and stuff like that.)

His invisibility cloak is made out of a shimmery, shiny material that has a bit of reflection to it. Our great aunt made it for him about 6 years ago (and unfortunately, I don't think I have a picture of it on my computer!).

I would have loved to be in your brother's 5th grade class. :D

Me too. I know I'm biased because he's my brother, but he is seriously the coolest teacher I've ever know. He gets kids genuinely excited about learning. He currently teaches 6th and 7th grade gifted classes.

It is so nice to hear about an excellent gifted teacher. I have seen so many bad ones who assume that since they're working with the cream of the crop, those kids automatically MUST love learning and therefore the gifted teacher doesn't have to do much. I was in the gifted program (we call it GATE here; does yours have a name there?) as a child, and I thought of any excuse I could to get out of going because it was so boring. Your brother sounds amazing.

He's a fantastic teacher. He was a teacher of the year finalist in Georgia a couple of years ago.

We call it FOCUS over here, though once you get to high school, it's just gifted and AP classes. I LOVED FOCUS - we always had so much fun with the lessons and experiments!

YOU HAVE THE GREATEST FRIEND EVER. :D

Oh man, SO jealous that you're seeing the premier! It's going to be so much fun, though, and I'm sure you'll love it! :D FWIW, my brother and I used to go to the book premiers (I think the only ones we missed were 1 and 2), and we dressed up every year. SO MUCH FUN!! I expect a full report (erm... I'd say no spoilers, but I've read the book, lol) and pictures!!

Hahaha I can't wait to see her! She bought one of those pillowcases for body pillows so it's longer, and she's not even wearing anything underneath (save for maybe a pair of boy shorts and a little tube top)! She is going all out. She's probably the funnest friend I have. She ran a "Zombie 5K" on Halloween morning, complete with zombie costume. She kind of reminds me of Marla (lumpyhead); she has that fun, up-for-anything personality.

I am a MUCH bigger fan of the books than the movies; I'm one of those annoying "The book is ALWAYS better!" people. I'm sure you are too! I love HP so much though, I'll take it in any form I can get it!

The HP books are so much better than the movies because they leave so much out of the movies! I'm stoked for this one, more so than the others, because they're breaking the book up into two movies, so hopefully they'll cover the important stories!

AHHHH!!!!

Oh, I'm totally one of those books-are-better-than-movies types, too, which drives people crazy. So yup, you're right! ;) I agree, though; I used to protest the HP movies forever, but I finally saw the 4th one, I think, and was hooked from then on out. Books are still better (for the exact reason Lizzie stated, lol), but the movies are cool in their own right!

Anyway, OMG, your friend sounds amazing!! I've always wanted to do a zombie 5k, and that's incredible that she did! She sounds so freakin' awesome, and I DEFINITELY want a picture of her ensemble! :D

I'm one of those annoying "The book is ALWAYS better!" people

Me too! I have found only a couple of movie/book parings EVER where that is not the case ("Stardust" is better as a movie, because the book is mostly a bunch of random events with no real plotline IMHO & umm... that's the only one I can think of off the top of my head! Maybe "The Princess Bride", but the book is pretty darn awesome too!). And even then it took a lot of hunting before I found any examples, LOL!

Rob & I are currently reading the Harry Potter books together (re-reading for me, but he's never read them before) & not only is it fun couple-time, he's amazed at how much the movies cut out! He keeps interrupting to say stuff like "Ohhhhh, that makes WAY more sense! They don't explain that in the movies!" haha! We're up to book 5, so we're not going to finish before JJ arrives, but even with baby interruptions we should be done by the time HP7 pt 2 is released!

LOL I already dug my college grad robe out about an hour ago! It also happens to be black, which is a bonus! I was going to be McGonagall, and I had Bam out searching for a pair of glasses for me (I only had my ACTUAL glasses, and I wanted a pair that look dramatic enough that it's clear they are a part of the costume). But he came home with a pair that would be PERFECT for Harry with a bit of tape on them. Now I want to draw a scar on my forehead and be Harry...but I don't have a wig. Any ideas what I could use for messy black hair??

You are the LAST person I would imagine to dress up for something like this, Kara! I'm tickled over it and demand pictures! Have so much fun!

That is awesome! I demand pics! I had (aaaages ago) originally planned to make some Hogwarts scarves for wearing to HP7, but then I a) couldn't find the right coloured yarn (I'm really picky about shades - I don't want to spend time making something if the colours are going to be off!) & b) got pregnant & made baby stuff instead.

I'm seeing it at Gold Class on Sunday though. We're hoping to do that again for part 2 (if you have 32 people, you can book the whole cinema - we wanted to do that this time, but left it too late, so not enough people were free) & we might dress up or make scarves or something then (if JJ is a boy, he can go as baby Harry - no costume required! Maybe a scar though, but at that age Harry didn't have a scar, so it's not needed).

You know how I texted you last night saying I had just pulled into the driveway and I was tired? HA! Then I got out of my car and was awake again. It took me another 45 minutes to calm down enough to go to sleep!

You should've kept texting me! I was up until almost 5 a.m. because I couldn't sleep. Thankfully, there was an e-mail waiting for me from our photographer saying our wedding pictures were ready, so it gave me something to do. ;)

Ha! I totally should have!

Omg, you can't tease us like that. When do we get to see them?!?
